LONDON (Reuters), British Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng stated on Friday that allegations that legislators were intimidated and blackmailed in the name of government officials seemed odd and untruessential.

On Thursday, a senior Conservative lawmaker claimed that the British government had intimidated and attempted to “blackmail” those legislators they suspected of trying to remove Prime Minister Boris Johnson from power.

William Wragg (chair of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee) stated that some legislators had been subject to intimidation and blackmail due to their determination and desire for Johnson’s overthrow.

Kwarteng said that although he was an MP for 12+ years, he had not heard of such allegations – blackmail. I find it bizarre.”

“These allegations seem very unlikely to be true,” said I.

He stated that he hadn’t heard about money being taken from communities because of the behavior of lawmaker whips who enforce party discipline.

He said, “It’s strange that the whip’s office does not have power over this spending.”

Johnson was the 2019 winner of his party’s largest majority in over 30 years. He now seeks to strengthen his authority, following revelations concerning parties that were at Johnson’s Downing Street address during COVID lockdowns.

Johnson repeatedly offered his apologies for all the parties, and claimed he didn’t know many.

Johnson attended the May 20th, 2020 work event that he believed was an employee party. He said staff had been instructed to bring their own drinks to this event. Johnson claimed that no one had ever told him about the COVID gathering.

Leaders in the Conservative Party are Rishi Sunak, 41 (Chancellor of the Exchequer), and Liz Truss (46)

Truss said that Johnson was supported during a trip to Australia.

Truss stated, “The Prime Minister is my 100 percent support.” “I wish the Prime Minister would continue in his current job for as much time as possible. He does a great job. “There is no election for the leadership.”
