(Reuters) – More than 8,000 Kroger workers (NYSE:) Coowned King Soopers shops called off Friday’s strike after reaching a tentative agreement with U.S. retailer, Kroger.

After workers vote beginning Monday, union officials said that the details of the contract will be made available to union members.

“You have seven working days before you can return to work. “Contact your manager at the store to get on the schedule,” said the union via https:// workers (NYSE:).

On Jan. 12, the strike was called by workers who had rejected at least two offers made by Kroger. A $170million Kroger offer was rejected by the union last week. It called it “last, greatest and best offer.”

Wage increases up to $4.50 an hour were offered depending on the job title and duration. The starting pay rate was increased to $16 an hour. The union however demanded at least $6 an hour raises for all.

Rising COVID-19 infections and inflation have pushed U.S. workers to demand better working conditions and higher pay, with employees at Deere (NYSE:) & Co and Kellogg (NYSE:) Co’s cereal plants recently securing better deals after weeks of strike.

After a long negotiation process, Kroger charged the union with refusing to negotiate in good faith. The union, however, alleged that some King Soopers employees displayed “unprofessional and outrageous behavior.”

An American court granted King Soopers an interim restraining order this week, which prohibits picketing groups exceeding 10 persons, interference with any individual within 20 feet, and standing in front store doors or vehicles.
