PARIS (Reuters), -Orange in France, France’s largest telecoms operator is set to name Christel Heydemann its chief executive. This would make her the first female leader of the ex-monopoly during a restructuring of its governance. Two sources confirmed this on Sunday.
According to sources, Heydemann is expected to be formally appointed to her position as Orange’s new boss at Friday’s meeting.
Heidmann is currently the European head of Schneider Electric’s electric equipment division (PA:). However, he was unavailable for comment Sunday.
Stephane Richard will be replaced by Heydemann (47), a graduate of Polytechnique in France, after being found guilty of helping to misuse public funds.
Richard has been the Orange leader for 12 years and denies any wrongdoing.
Heydemann’s name was circulated in France for many days and he has been presented as France’s preferred candidate by the finance ministry. This is the government that oversees Orange’s governance, where the state holds 23%.
France’s JDD Weekly was the first one to inform Heydemann of his possible appointment during a Friday board meeting.
