SYDNEY, (Reuters) –The nation has imposed new restrictions on the spread of COVID-19 Omicron variants in New Zealand. Jacinda Arden announced to reporters that she had cancelled her wedding.

New Zealand will enforce mask rules starting at midnight Sunday. This follows a cluster nine COVID-19 Omicron cases that showed community spreading from North to South after a marriage.

Following attending an event in Auckland on the North Island, the family traveled by plane to Nelson. Both the flight attendant and family tested positive.

New Zealand’s COVID-19 protection framework will see it move to a more red setting, which includes greater mask wear. There will be 100 maximum guests in indoor venues such as restaurants, bars and weddings. Arden stated that the limit will be reduced to 25 persons if there are no vaccine passes at venues.

Reporters were informed that “my wedding won’t be happening,” and she expressed regret for those who had been caught up in similar situations. Ardern hadn’t disclosed her wedding date but was widely rumored.

Ardern answered reporters’ questions about how she feels about Clarke Gayford being canceled her long-term partner and fishing-show host Clarke Gayford.

Then she added that “I am not different to” (dare I say it), thousands of New Zealanders who suffered more severe effects from the pandemic.

New Zealand’s border has been closed to outsiders since March 2020. Out of concerns about an Omicron epidemic in Australia, the government delayed plans to reopen New Zealand’s borders from February through January.

Individuals who are able to travel to New Zealand with narrow exemptions can apply to be admitted to state-managed quarantine units. Omicron has seen an increase in people who arrive at its facilities, so the government stopped issuing new slots last week.

Around 94% are fully vaccinated in New Zealand, with 56% having had booster shots.
