The deal could happen as early next week as the ruling emir of Qatar visits Washington, according to two sources familiar with this matter.
The people claimed that Qatar Airways may be looking to renew its fleet of 34 freighters, with the larger 777X version. This deal could potentially amount to $14 billion. Qatar Airways indicated that it would be open to buying up to 50 more freighters. The larger numbers are likely to offer options.
Both companies declined comment.
