LONDON (Reuters – Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister, was in London on Tuesday to defend himself against new accusations that he had broken the COVID lockdown rules. He attended a surprise party at Downing Street as indoor gatherings were forbidden.

Johnson was the 2019 Conservative winner with the largest majority. However, he is seeking to strengthen his primacy after being accused by his staff of having sat at the heart the British government during the worst epidemic in over a century.

Johnson has been criticized for his revelry revelations, which include Downing Street boozy parties, supermarket wine suitcases, broken swings, and jokes from staff members about how to present these parties to journalists.

ITV (LON) – Johnson was reported to have attended a surprise birthday party, on June 19. A total of 30 people were present at the Cabinet Room in No. ITV stated that the event attracted up to 30 people from his office as well as his residence.

ITV stated that the cake was given to the prime minister while Carrie (now his wife) led staff through a happy birthday chorus.

Grant Shapps Johnson’s minister for transport, however, claimed that although he was aware of the concerns expressed by voters, Johnson didn’t arrange to have a birthday cake.

Shapps said to Sky, “I can understand your concern regarding the kind of reports that we see in the newspapers.” “Mistakes were made.”

“Just to be clear, the prime minister clearly didn’t organise to be given a cake; some people came forward and thought it would be appropriate on his birthday to present a cake.”

Johnson offered a range of explanations regarding the allegations against parties. He first said that no rules were broken, then he apologized to British citizens for their hypocrisy in attending such gatherings.

This week, Sue Gray from the Cabinet Office will publish an official investigation into lockdown parties. Shapps stated that Gray was aware about details regarding the birthday party.

ITV reported that Lulu Lytle was an interior designer who was renovating Johnson’s apartment in the building. ITV stated that the prime minister hosted family friends the night before.

The claim was rejected by the office.

ITV spokesperson said that this was false. According to the rules of the day, the prime minister invited a few family members.

Lytle’s company stated that she wasn’t invited to any birthday party, but she was at Downing Street the day before and briefly entered Cabinet Room when requested.

Keir Sternmer of the Opposition Labour Party said Johnson should go.

This is another sign that our prime minister believes the rules he created don’t apply.
