MoonPay releases NFT-purchase software with bank card checkoutMoonPay, an NFT trading platform that develops crypto-based payments infrastructure, launched a new service that allows NFT traders to pay cash for digital art and collectibles.
The crypto unicorn’s clients, including top NFT marketplaces and banks, have now access to the new checkout system that allows them to make NFT purchases using debit or credit cards.
It was announced in the wee hours of Thursday. This launch follows a partnership between MasterCard and Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange (NASDAQ:). It will enable NFT market users to use cards for payment.
OpenSea customers must fund their wallets first with cryptocurrency to be able to purchase NFTs. MoonPay expects the new product to triple NFT seller sales and facilitate a quicker checkout. MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright stated:
The NFT market currently is restricted to the many millions of owners of cryptocurrency […] MoonPay’s NFT Checkout has just opened the door to billions more who own credit cards by making ownership both simple and fast.
NFT transactions can be made across all types of blockchains, such as Flow, Polygon and. Sellers and buyers can track their ownership using the link between NFTs, their respective blockchains. Once bought with a card using MoonPay, NFTs will be sent directly to a customer’s crypto wallet.
It is worth noting that the NFT purchase price will include the cost of gas. Items linked to faster blockchains such as Polygon will have their gas costs paid by MoonPay.
Secondary and primary NFT sales can be done using the checkout tool. MoonPay takes care of customer primary sales which require the minting of new pieces from an existing collection.
MoonPay may also charge a 3.5% processing fee or $3.99 for NFT buyers.
An NFT collection created and maintained by the World Wildlife Fund already implemented the checkout option. Meanwhile, other partners like NFL quarterback Tom Brady’s NFT platform Autograph are running pilot versions of the product.
