Apple Stock Skyrockets After CEO Unveils Metaverse Investment

Apple’s stock price recently increased by 8% when CEO Tim Cook mentioned in the company’s Q1 2022 earnings call that he could foresee some potential strides in the metaverse arena. Additionally, the company’s revenue has gained $19.5 billion, a surge of up to 24%.

In the call on January 27, Cook talked about Apple’s opportunities in the metaverse. There are potential AR developments in this space. Cook stated that it is worth considering investing.

Cook noted that Apple currently has over 14,000 AR apps in its App Store. The AR platform ARKit designed these apps. This is how ARKit allows users to reach the metaverse.

He also added:

We’re always exploring new and emerging technologies and I’ve spoken at length about how it’s very interesting to us right now.

Oculus headset is being used to bring users into metaverse. However, Meta still believes in AR technology. Apple originally planned to launch the Apple headset by 2022. However, due to technical and software issues it could be delayed.

Apple looks forward to the launch of its headset, which can be used for communication, gaming and content consumption. Apple is also fighting with technology giants Meta, Microsoft (NASDAQ):, as well as blockchain companies like Bloktopia, Decentraland and Ertha Metaverse, in an effort to get to the top of their plans for the metaverse.

Apple also announced financial results from its fiscal first quarter 2022. Its total revenue for that period is $123.9 billion. Tim Cook commented that Apple has established a new revenue record thanks to the addition of many products and services from its lineup.

The metaverse, as we all know it is, is a digital simulation that has been backed tech companies and social media. You can access it with digital glasses, VR headsets or smartphones.
