(Reuters) – Automaker Stellantis NV said it would suspend its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for U.S. employees, days after the country’s Supreme Court blocked President Joe Biden’s vaccination-or-testing mandate for large businesses.

Stellantis stated that the company had suspended full vaccinations because of compliance by more than 97% U.S. salaried workers who are non-represented and approved exemptions.

Stellantis announced in November that all of its U.S. 14,000 salaried, non-represented employees must be up to date on COVID-19 vaccines by Jan. 5.

Chrysler, a parent company based in Amsterdam, stated Friday that it will continue to follow the situation closely and seek guidance from public health officials to modify its policies as necessary.
