WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – President Joe Biden is considering J. Michelle Childs of the United States District Court to be a nominee for the Supreme Court. This was a White House spokesperson stated on Friday.

Stephen Breyer retired on Thursday, and Stephen Childs was announced as his replacement.

Biden nominated https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/biden-nominates-2-appellate-judges-including-supreme-court-contender-2021-12-23 Childs last month to the influential U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit but is putting that on hold while considering her for the Supreme Court.

Andrew Bates, spokesperson for the White House, stated, “Judge Childs” that she is one of several individuals being looked at for the Supreme Court.

“At the exact same time reporting that President Obama is not seriously considering any more than three nominees is inaccurate.”

U.S. Representative James Clyburn has endorsed Childs as the House majority whip and third-ranking Democrat, close to Biden.

The president has tapped a team https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-taps-veteran-team-guide-historic-supreme-court-nomination-2022-01-28 to help him make the selection, which he plans to announce by the end of February.

He said he will pick the first Black female to sit on the Supreme Court.
