(Reuters) – Tom Brady is retiring after 22 seasons of dominance and a record-breaking seven Super Bowl wins, ESPN reports.

He spent twenty seasons playing for the New England Patriots and won six Super Bowls. After that, he moved to Tampa Bay to lead the Buccaneers in their Super Bowl victory.

This is a surprising decision considering that Brady led in passing yards and touchdown passes this season. He could still win the fourth league MVP trophy.

ESPN reports that while the Buccaneers tried convincing him to return for another season, he chose his family over his health.

Brady stated that he is satisfied with his current career in a podcast he recorded following Tampa Bay’s elimination from the playoffs.

Brady stated that Brady had said it a while back. “It is what relationship are all about,” Brady explained.

“It is not always what it’s best for me. As a family, it’s what we all want. It’s what I want for my family.

Brady is the father to three. He and Gisele Bundchen are building a home together in Miami.

Brady declared, “I’ll be able to tell when I know,” during the podcast. I think that everyone can decompress. This has been six months of continuous football. It’s been a day of football every day. “I think it’s more time to just spend time with my family or my children.”

Brady was honored by TB12 in a Twitter post listing all of his achievements.

Tweet: “Thank you so much for all of it.”

ESPN reported that it is uncertain when he will make the formal announcement. This is because he doesn’t want Sunday’s conference championships or February 13 Super Bowl to be overshadowed.

Don Yee, Brady’s agent, said to ESPN: “I understand the anticipation about Tom’s fate.”

Tom won’t be able to accurately state his plans without being drawn into the details of reports.

This Northern California native was chosen with the 199th NFL draft pick in 2000. He is currently the NFL’s leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns, as well as quarterback wins.

The record-breaking 10 Super Bowl appearances were his, and five of those wins included the MVP award. He also won five other MVP awards.
