These cities are great places to begin your job search if you’re searching for a new position.

Glassdoor, a job portal, released their annual report earlier this month. 100 Best Places to Work in 2022Ranking, which shows the top metros with the highest number of companies on it.

Glassdoor’s top 30 ranking was dominated by companies based in San Francisco Bay Area, San Francisco or San Jose. New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles were also among the top metropolitan areas. These cities were praised by employees for offering flexible working hours and strong benefits, as well access to senior leaders. 

Glassdoor collected millions of reviews from employees and analyzed them to create the report. The data was gathered between October 2020, 2021 and now. The report was based on 75 reviews and companies that had at least 1000 employees. Each organization was rated on a five-point scale for job opportunities, culture, and compensation.

Christian Sutherland Wang, CEO at Glassdoor, shares the following: “A lot these metros have places where tech businesses have performed really good.” CNBC Make It. “Tech companies have been leaders in providing employees with flexible work arrangements, and have seen hyper-growth in their business because we’ve relied on technology more during the coronavirus pandemic … this all benefits employees.”

Chris Von Der Ahe is a senior partner in global consultancy Korn Ferry and says that the highest ranking cities also attract young professionals. “There’s a lot of big companies in these cities that provide strong foundational training and promotion opportunities for young employees, too – and then they don’t want to leave.”

Important to remember that employers may call these places “home”, but many companies listed on Glassdoor include GoogleLinkedIn and Zillow allow their employees to keep working from home during this ongoing pandemic.
