Yellen to participate remotely in February G20 meeting -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury secretary Janet Yellen will attend a G20 meeting in February remotely due to a rising Omicron coronavirus variant. The U.S. Treasury Department released a statement.

As well as participating in virtual meetings with counterparts, the secretary will hold bilateral meetings for discussions on the world economy and taxation reform.

On February 17-18, central bank governors and finance ministers will meet. The current G20 head, Indonesia is hosting this meeting.

A request to comment from the World Bank or International Monetary Fund regarding their plans to allow their leaders to take part was not answered.
