China to strengthen anti-monopoly efforts in pharma industry -Breaking

REUTERS/Aly Son/File PhotoBEIJING, (Reuters) – China is expected to tighten its law enforcement in order to curtail monopoly practices as well as unfair competition within the pharmaceutical sector. This move was made by the ministry of industry on Sunday.
It follows the November regulatory guidelines that aim to eradicate monopolies in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). China is the largest exporter and manufacturer of these products in the world.
The ministry of industry, information technology stated in a statement that it will “strengthen law Enforcement against unfair Competition, and resolutely probe unfair Competitive Acts, like commercial Bribery”.
The law will be enforced more strictly in areas like drug shortages and APIs. It also prepares and adopts antitrust guidelines for the API market. Additionally, the investigation of monopolistic agreements is being done.
