PepsiCoRockstar Energy’s latest beverage aims to calm consumers.

Pepsi’s new drink is infused with hemp oil, spearmint and lemon balm, with only 80 mgs of caffeine. This allows the company to target younger women. Men between the ages of 18 and 34 years consume the most energy drinks, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.

PepsiCo General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer of the energy division, Fabiola Turres stated, “It’s a mix of herbs that can help to relax but not sleep.”

Rockstar drinks can also be made with as little as 160mg to 300mg of caffeine.

Rockstar Unplugged will now be sold in 12-ounce slimmer cans. It comes in three flavours: passion fruit, blueberry and raspberry cucumber. Starting Tuesday, this beverage will be sold nationwide starting at $1.99 per bottle

Torres stated that Rockstar Unplugged uses half of the caffeine as the German drink.

While there have been a number of small players who are more likely to win, the market for CBD drinks is still very niche. According to Brightfield Group, only 1.8% Americans have purchased CBD drinks in the past three months.

Hemp seed-infused drinks and food aren’t subject to any bans in the U.S.

Torres explained that this is a new area, and they are trying to find out and make it fun.

Pepsi’s shares rose 26% during the last twelve months. This gives it a market worth of $239 million.
