The former president Donald Trump’s political-action committee gave $1 million to conservative nonprofit organization Mark Meadows is the senior partner. a campaign finance report filed with the Federal Election Commission Monday night.

This December, House voted to recommend that the Justice Department pursue contempt of Congress charges against Meadows over his refusal to cooperate with an investigation into the Trump-inspired Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

According to campaign finance reports, the tax-deductible contribution of seven figures to Conservative Partnership Institute represents the biggest chunk of $1.35million in Trump’s donations to his “Save America” PAC to political allies during the past six months.

Trump’s PAC donated to 69 candidates for state and federal offices. Many of these have embraced Trump’s lie about being defrauded during the 2020 presidential election. He lost to President Joe Biden by an electoral vote rally of 306 to 232 — and by more than 7 million raw votes.

Meadows’s charity contribution stands out because of its large size and timing. A select committee was established by the House to investigate the Capitol attack. Trump’s PAC gave money to the Conservative Partnership Institute on July 26, which is described as a training ground and center for conservative staff.

Wesley Denton (CPI chief operating officer) stated in a statement that “CPI is proud of having the support of President Trump and tens of thousand of Americans across America for our work to rebuild and unite the conservative Movement.”

Tim Mulvey was a spokesperson for the Jan.6 Committee. He did not immediately reply to my text asking him to comment about the Meadows-employer donation.

Trump’s political fundraising organization, “Save America,” was one of his many. It raised $51 million collectively in the second half 2021. Taylor Budowich (Trump spokesman) said that this figure is not surprising. According to Monday’s disclosure, it employs approximately two dozen employees and Facebook advertising is its largest expense.

Texas Lt. Governor was the recipient of $10,000 in PAC contributions. Dan Patrick has been a guide to Trump in navigating Texas’s Republican primary politics. Donations were mostly made in small amounts of $5,000 and went to the majority of Trump-endorsed candidates.

Many candidates are running for office in statewide elections, such as secretary of state or attorney general. These positions have an influence over how elections are administered. Trump donated $5,000 to Arizona State Rep. Mark Finchem (a secretary-of state candidate) who called for decertification. He also gave a matching amount of $2,500 to Rep. Jody Hice, R.Ga., who voted to certify the election.

In 2020, the states that were decided in the narrowest margins were Georgia and Arizona.

The PAC contributed to Senate candidates by making a donation to Republican Herschel Wade, a former University of Georgia football player and professional footballer who played for Trump’s team in the now defunct USFL. Trump donated to Harriet Hageman on the House side. Hageman is currently running as a primary challenger to Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo). Cheney, one of the two Republicans on the investigation committee for the Jan. 6 attacks, voted to impeach Trump.
