Alphabet adds air quality and power shutoffs from fires to risk factors

Google parent company AlphabetIt says that it is considering the potential effects of climate change on its supply chain.
The previous climate risks, such as flooding and sea level rising, were previously provided by the company in its supply chain danger factors section. However, it listed additional examples in its 2021 report. 10-KFiles released this week
“Air Quality effects and power shutoffs related to wildfire prevention” are added as climate change effects. These effects could either have affected or will affect the company’s supply chain.
This is because large corporations like Google are becoming more open about the impacts of climate change, and executives have been preparing for disruptions to their businesses. States that have become more prone than usual to wildfires are being instructed to shut down their electrical power. This is to keep them from spreading. Recent years have seen stronger storm and weather behaviors, according to authorities.
Alphabet is dependent on supply chains management and manufacturing partners around the world. It stated that it could be affected by severe weather conditions.

“We’ve experienced or may experience future supply shortages and/or price hikes that can negatively impact our operations. This could result from raw material availability, component or part availability and labor shortages. Also, industrial allocations and logistics capacities, tariffs. trade disputes. and barriers.
Alphabet reported blowout fourth-quarter earnings on TuesdayShares of the company rose more than 7% Wednesday, following the release.
