Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close at NYSE the index increased 0.63% and rose 0.94%. The index also gained 0.50%.

The Travelers Companies Inc. (NYSE:) was the best performer of the session, rising 2.82% or 4.73 point to close at 172.72. Meanwhile, UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) added 2.43% or 11.37 points to end at 479.78 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) was up 1.79% or 2.86 points to 162.60 in late trade.

Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE) was the worst performer of the session, falling 3.06% or 7.11 point to close at 225.01. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) declined 1.29% or 1.87 points to end at 142.62 and JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) was down 0.80% or 1.21 points to 149.94.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Alphabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.52% to 2960.00, Alphabet Inc Class C (NASDAQ:) which was up 7.37% to settle at 2960.73 and Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:) which gained 6.25% to close at 188.20.

They were among the most disappointing. PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ) was down 24.59%, to 132.57 during late trade. CH Robinson Worldwide Inc (NASDAQ) lost 11.50% to settle for 92.54 Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 9.28% to close at 138.04.

These were the top performers in the NASDAQ Composite MDJM Ltd (NASDAQ:), which rose 35.56% up to 2.440 GWG Holdings Inc (NASDAQ) was up 31.58% and settled at 4.500. Helbiz Inc (NASDAQ) gained 24.84%, closing at 3.82.

They were among the most disappointing. LogicBio Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ :), which fell 54.83% to 0.6777 in late-trade, Redbox Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ :), which lost 52.16% at 2.550, as well as Electric Last Mile Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ :), which dropped 51.52% at 2.710 at close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1774-1482, and 102 ended unchanged.

The shares of PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:), fell 24.59%, or 43.23 to 133.257. Etsy Inc shares (NASDAQ:), fell 9.28% to 52 week lows, or 14.12 to 133.04. The shares of The Travelers Companies Inc. (NYSE:), rose to new highs, gaining 2.82% (4.73 to 172.72). LogicBio Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to new lows, losing 54.83%. Redbox Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to new lows, falling 52.16% to 2.780 to 2.550. Electric Last Mile Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to new lows, down 51.52%.

For April delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.31% to $1807.15 an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.2% or 0.20 in March to reach $88.00/barrel, and April Brent oil, which rose 0.01 or 0.01, to trade at $89.32/barrel.

EUR/USD rose by 0.01%, to 1.1304. USD/JPY declined by 0.01%, to 114.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.4% at 95.980.
