MEXICO CITY – International activists have voted to give General Motors (NYSE) a representative in central Mexico. The vote came from an independent labor union, according to Mexico’s Federal Labor Center.

SINTTIA beat all three competitors by large margins, even Mexico’s largest labor union that held the contract for over 25 years.

A Mexican labor reform, which underpins trade agreements with Canada and the United States, required that several thousand Mexican workers vote.
