LIMA, Reuters – Peruvian Prime Minster Hector Valer has confirmed that he will be leaving the country just four days following his appointment. Hector Valer was accused of beating his wife and daughter, creating a leadership vacuum in the Andean nation.

Castillo, President Pedro Castillo, stated Friday that he would reshuffle Cabinet as a result of these allegations. However, Castillo did not mention whether Valer would go.

Castillo now has to name his fourth cabinet within six months. He stated that it will include representatives from a variety of political parties. The exact date of the announcement is not known.

Castillo was a schoolteacher who is now a member of the Marxist Leninist party.

He was the far-left leader of his first party, and he was succeeded in October by a moderate politician. Castillo then appointed Valer as prime minister this week.

Valer is a lawyer and conservative Catholic. He ran for a right-wing party, but then left to form a Congressional bloc which is friendlier with Castillo.

The Peruvian prime minister is an influential figure. The president’s chief advisor, the PM helps to appoint and preside over the remaining Cabinet members.
