Hodlers beware! MetaMask, 40 others crypto wallets are being attacked by new malware
A report by security researcher 3xp0rt shows that a strong new malware variant, the Mars Stealer (an upgrade to the Oski trojan, which steals information from computers), can be used to attack over 40 browser-based cryptocurrency wallets including MetaMask, Coinbase, and Wallet. This is in addition the popular two-factor authentication (2FA), extensions.
This malicious software uses a grab function to steal private keys once it is downloaded. It does not know that the user may have used other channels such as torrent clients, file-hosting sites, or any other suspicious downloaders.
