LONDON, (Reuters) – Britain’s Prince Charles paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth on Sunday at the 70th anniversary of her accession. He said it was an occasion for the country and to celebrate her contribution to the nation.

Charles thanked Camilla for her Saturday statement that she hoped Camilla would be Queen Consort, the heir of the throne.

He said that he was deeply aware of the honor my mother wishes. As we sought to help and support Her Majesty as well as the citizens of our towns, my beloved wife has always been there for me.

“The unprecedented year of the Platinum Jubilee offers an opportunity to all come together to celebrate the service of Queen Elizabeth, by which we will continue being led in the coming years.”
