Futures dip after a turbulent week; Peloton surges -Breaking

(Reuters) – U.S. Stock Index Futures dropped on Monday following volatile trading that was fueled by mixed quarterly results of Big Tech. Meanwhile, Peloton jumped in response to potential buyers such as Amazon.

Tech-heavy Nasdaq was volatile in February, after Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:), owner of Facebook (NASDAQ;) lost $200 billion on its market value last week due to disappointing results. Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:), however, gained the same amount on its plans for increasing its Prime subscription rates.

Peloton Interactive, NASDAQ:) Inc jumped 22.6% due to Amazon’s news. Nike (NYSE:) They are looking into a possible buyout for the maker of exercise bikes.

Hasbro Inc Premarket trading saw 2.2% gain in NASDAQ: after analysts beat their estimates of quarterly revenue. This was due to a rebound for the television production and increased demand for “Magic: The Gathering”.

Frozen and refrigerated food maker Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE: ) rose 0.8% before its results earlier in the day.

According to Refinitiv, of the 278 businesses that reported earnings on Friday, 78.4% exceeded analysts’ expectations.

A surprisely strong jobs report this week has raised questions about the U.S. Federal Reserve’s willingness to tighten its policy before key January inflation data is released on Thursday.

The market is now pricing in the possibility that the Fed will raise rates by 50 basis points in March, and possibly to 1.5% at year’s end. [FEDWATCH]

At 6:18 AM. ET fell 87 points or 0.25%. ET was down 9.75 point or 0.22% and ET was down 25.25 or 0.17%.

All three major stock indexes finished February 1 higher despite the tech stocks earnings volatility.

Market liquidity refers to how easy investors can sell or buy securities, and has dropped to the levels seen in U.S stocks during the COVID-19 saleoff two years back, adding volatility to an already-nervous stock market.
