Top Israeli cop requests state inquiry over reported NSO spyware abuse -Breaking

JERUSALEM, (Reuters) – The Israeli Police Chief Monday requested that the government establish an External Commission of Inquiry after a report in a local newspaper revealed widespread warrantless spyware use by investigators from his police force.

Kobi Shabtai (Police Commissioner) noted that reports of abuses by the Pegasus Hacking Tool against Israeli Public Figures predated his appointment. He stated that the investigation he requested was necessary “in order restore public trust”.
