Ferrari and Qualcomm team up for tech projects for road, racing cars -Breaking

ROME (Reuters) – Ferrari (NYSE:) announced Tuesday that it will partner with Qualcomm Technologies (NASDAQ:) Technologies in order to make the San Diego-based company’s flagship product, Snapdragon chipsets. This partnership will help accelerate the digital transformation of the sports carmaker.

According to the statement, both their road cars and Formula One race team will be included in the deal. Additionally, first joint projects such as the “digital cockpit” have already been identified.

Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari’s CEO and a veteran of the technology industry, said that in November Ferrari will seek partnerships in technology as it continues to move toward cleaner mobility.

Market leaders must work together to invent. Vigna spoke in the statement, “Thanks to this agreement… we increase our knowledge in digital technology and web 3.0 areas that have great potential automotive and motorsport.”

Snapdragon’s logo will debut on F1-75 racing models, including the Ferrari single-seater. It will be revealed at Maranello headquarters on Feb. 17.
