REUTERS/Eric GaillardAMSTERDAM (Reuters), – Just Eat Takeaway, a meal-delivery company on Tuesday announced it would remove its shares from Nasdaq’s stock exchange to cut costs and reduce regulatory burdens.
The shares of this Amsterdam-based firm are still listed on both the London and Amsterdam stock exchanges.
“Main considerations for the voluntarily delisting are the low trading volumes on Nasdaq and the low proportion of the company’s total share capital held on Nasdaq”, Just Eat Takeaway said.
Takeaway bought Grubhub, a U.S.-based delivery company for $7.3 billion in June 2013.
Investors have been urging it to close its operations including Grubhub to cut operating losses. This is because the COVID-19-related boost has started to fade.
Amsterdam’s early trading on Tuesday saw Takeaway Shares fall 2%. This was the second worst performer of the blue-chip AEX-index.
The shares are worth 41.26 euro and have suffered a 15% loss in value since 2022. They also remain far lower than their October 2020 high of 109 euros.
