MILAN (Reuters), Stellantis has unveiled Tuesday its Alfa Romeo Tonale compact utility vehicle (SUV), as part of its strategy to grow in premium markets and include electrified, interconnected vehicles.

Through 2025, the world’s fourth-largest carmaker will spend more than 30 billion euro ($34.2 billion), to upgrade its automobile lineup and improve its software content in order to keep up with its rivals like Tesla (NASDAQ:).

Alfa Romeo’s Tonale is to be produced at Italy’s Pomigliano factory near Naples.

The prices for the sales are likely to be revealed later this year than orders open in April.

This device has built-in Amazon voice assistant (NASDAQ;) features. The owner can choose where they want their parcel to be delivered. This will allow couriers to safely unlock and place a package inside.

Stellantis could use the Alfa Romeo name in China as part of its strategy, according to some analysts. China is the largest market for autos and the brand has been far behind other competitors.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, the brand’s chief executive officer has pledged a new Alfa Romeo model every year until 2026. This will begin with 2022’s Tonale. The smaller SUV should be manufactured in Poland.

All new Alfa Romeo cars will become electric from 2027 onwards, he stated.

Stellantis was founded last year from the merger of Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot (OTC) maker PSA. It is home to 14 brands such as bestseller Jeep and Lancia, in the premium segment, and Maserati, in the luxury section.

While the Alfa Romeo Tonale’s new design is inspired by a Fiat Chrysler-designed architecture, Stellantis will begin building their first models on a shared platform next year. ($1 = 0.8767 euros)
