Peloton CEO’s first all-hands meeting cut short as ex-staff crash it

PelotonIt held an all-hands meeting on Wednesday in order to officially introduce Barry McCarthy as its new CEO.
Three people who were present at the meeting said that McCarthy and Foley’s discussion was ended abruptly.
Former and current employees began making scathing comments about the company. this week’s announced job cutsCNBC obtained messages from the Chat function revealing accusations of mismanagement.
“I am selling my entire Peloton wardrobe to help pay my bills!””!,” one person wrote.
One person said that “This is terriblely tone deaf.”
One user said, “The company made a mistake by allowing people to chat in this chat who had been fired.” It’s too late to modify [moderate] this.”
McCarthy was then asked by a reporter if he knew of any employees that had been fired and had gained access to the chat. He replied, “No comment.” The call was ended earlier than expected.
CNBC did not immediately get a response from a spokesperson for Peloton.
McCarthy is likely to face many difficulties in the future, based on this situation. Former tech executive will have to get the company back on track, and he’ll need to increase employee morale.
This connected equipment maker will reduce costs throughout its business. A portion of it will involve the loss of around 20% of its workforce. That’s 2,800 jobs. Peloton will continue to provide training for its instructors.
McCarthy told Peloton employees in an emailHe said Tuesday that he will work closely alongside Foley to make the necessary changes. The restructuring was a “bitter tablet,” he said. McCarthy stated that either revenue must grow faster than spending or both.

A spreadsheet created by ex-workers at Peloton had more than 250 addresses and emails of job seekers as it was posted to the internet Wednesday afternoon.
