BANGKOK, (Reuters) – Thailand’s central bank kept its key interest rates at a record low Wednesday to support a fragile recovery of Southeast Asia’s second largest economy. This was in addition to efforts to revitalize the country’s tourism sector.

Unanimously, the Bank of Thailand’s (BOT), Monetary Policy Committee voted to maintain the 1-day repurchase rate at 0.5% for a 14th consecutive meeting following three rate cuts in 2020.

A Reuters poll revealed that 23 of the 23 respondents expected the BOT would remain on hold until 2022.
