Xpeng shares jump as EV maker joins Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect

Xpeng’sHong Kong shares were included in the Shenzhen Hong Kong Stock Connect, a trade link with mainland China.

Investors based on mainland China will have easier access and may be able to increase their investment base.

Xpeng Hong Kong-listed shares rose up to 11.5%, before paring losses. Afternoon trade saw it rise to 9%.

Brian Gu (President of Xpeng) stated that “the inclusion will not only increase and diversify our investors base, but also allow our customers, partners, and EV and tech investors in China the chance to participate in this exciting growth story.”

In 2016, the Shenzhen Hong Kong Stock Connect was created to facilitate international investors’ trades in Chinese mainland-listed stock and for investors from Hong Kong to purchase and sell Hong Kong listed shares.
