WASHINGTON (Reuters] – U.S. officials announced Thursday that they are seeking to consult Mexico about its environmental obligations as a result of their U.S. – Mexico-Canada trade deal. These include protection of endangered vaquita porcoise.

In a statement, the Office of the U.S. trade representative stated that the U.S. wants to talk with Mexico about its obligations in order to stop illegal fishing and the trafficking of the totoaba fish.
