Biden tells U.S. citizens to leave Ukraine amid tensions with Russia

American President Joe Biden warned that citizens of the United States should immediately leave Ukraine as Russia’s military activities continue to escalate tensions.

“American citizens should leave … Leave now,” Biden told NBC News’ Lester Holt on Thursday night. “We are dealing with one the biggest armies in all of world. It’s a different scenario, so things can get crazy fast.”

Russia began a 10-day program of military exercises with its neighbor Belarus on Thursday. NATO estimates that 30,000 Russian soldiers were participating in the exercise, which is Moscow’s largest military deployment to Belarus since 1991.

Russia views the drills as an act of force. Around 130,000 soldiers and tanks have been sent to their border with Ukraine. according to NBC News. Russia demands that Ukraine is not allowed to join NATO’s military alliance. It also wants NATO to end its involvement in Eastern Europe.

Russia claims it doesn’t intend to invade Ukraine.

Russia also was accused by Ukraine of creating a maritime blockade on Thursday the BBC reported. Dmytro Kuleba, the Foreign Minister claimed that the Sea of Azov is completely blocked and the Black Sea was being blocked as Russian forces prepare for next week’s naval drills.

Despite mounting tensions BidenHe ruled out U.S. troops entering Ukraine on Thursday and said that there were no scenarios in which this could happen.  

He said, “That’s the world war where Americans and Russians shoot at each other. We’re living in a very new world than ever before.”

Biden said that even if the goal was to evacuate U.S. citizens, it would not be easy for U.S. troops to be deployed in Ukraine.

What is the best way to do this? “How do you find them?” He said. He said, “I hope that it is.” [Russian President Vladimir Putin is]He was foolish enough to enter, but smart enough to not do any thing that could negatively affect American citizens.”

At any given moment, invasions could occur

U.S. Secretary Antony Blinken, speaking at a Melbourne conference, Australia, said Friday that his government continued to “draw down its embassy” in Ukraine amid the “very troubling indications of Russian escalated.”

Moscow moved more troops towards the Ukrainian border. Blinken reiterated the demand for U.S. citizens not to return to Ukraine.

“We are within a window during which an invasion could start at any time. And to be completely clear, this also includes during the Olympics.”

The Winter Olympics in China are being held at the moment and will run until February 20, 2019.

While Russia denies it intends to invade Ukraine’s territory, the U.S., U.K., and other countries sent military hardware from the U.S. to Kyiv in order to assist it in defense against any military aggression.

Europe “on the edge of precipice”

Chatham House’s analysts said that 25% of Ukrainians who were surveyed over the past week indicated they are ready to protect Ukraine. They also mentioned those who already volunteered their services.  

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that any military confrontation with Russia would result in a “full scale” war on European soil.

This Friday Ukraine’s Kuleba told CNBCAccording to the U.S., the U.S. informed the government about the possibility that Russia might use a fake video for grounds of invasion.

He stated, “If I were to ask you if Russia can do anything in order provoke war, the answer would be no.” Every possibility is possible and every danger should be taken into consideration.

Putin has accused the U.S.To use Ukraine to “contain Russia.”
