S.Korea says central bank may buy more govt bonds to calm bond markets -Breaking

SEOUL (Reuters – South Korea’s central banking and finance ministries said Friday that they had agreed for the Bank of Korea to acquire more government bonds if it is necessary to stabilize the local bond markets.
According to the Bank of Korea statement, the minister and the regulators met on Friday to talk about the recent rise in the yields of the government bonds as well as the consumer price pressures. This comes at a time where interest rates have been rising further.
According to the BOK, it purchased 2 trillion won (or $1.67 billion) worth of bonds from government agencies on February 4.
