SHANGHAI (Reuters), – U.S. Electric Carmaker Tesla (NASDAQ 🙂 Plans to Place its China Design Centre in Beijing. This was revealed by a Chinese government document.

Tesla stated that it will open a center in China to produce vehicles in Chinese-style in 2020, but it has yet to specify where. Reuters said last year that the studio might be located in Shanghai or Beijing, which is where Tesla’s factory is.

In a report, the Beijing municipal government made this disclosure late in January. It listed the key projects that the city would need in 2022.

The company briefly listed some of the electric vehicle facilities it planned to build this year. However, it did not provide further information. It also included information about the planned plant for electric vehicles by Xiaomi (OTC) Corp. Toyota Motor’s Fuel Cell Research Center (NYSE.

Tesla has not yet responded to my request for comment. The Beijing government document was previously reported by local media outlets and Wall Street Journal.

Tesla began shipping vehicles out of its Shanghai plant at the end 2019 and has been increasing production in response to rising sales. It has become a hub of exports for Teslas heading to Europe and other countries.
