U.S. offers $69 million in aviation manufacturing assistance -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Transportation Department said Friday it was offering $69 million to 127 aviation manufacturing and repair businesses under a COVID-19 relief program created by Congress in 2021.

In all, $673 Million has been offered by the department in three award rounds. Some of the awards that were previously made did not get paid. Congress created the $3 billion aviation manufacturing payroll subsidy program to cover up to half of eligible companies’ compensation costs for as long as six months.

According to the department, the process for applying is closed. Unknown is what will happen with the remaining funds not yet distributed. This offer requires that companies agree not to conduct furloughs or lay off workers covered by subsidy during the period of six months.
