(Reuters) – An ex-Chief Clerk in Colorado, who supports former President Donald Trump’s fraudulent claims of widespread electoral fraud, is currently under investigation. He is being investigated for an alleged breach to voting machines and has launched a campaign for the position of top official of that state.

Tina Peters, Mesa County Clerk, cited “public conflicts over the integrity 2020’s presidential elections results” when she announced her candidacy for secretary of State.

Peters, a Republican said that Colorado needs a secretary to state who can stand up against the Biden government’s attempts to control our country through nationalized elections.

A number of courts, officials from the states and Trump himself have rejected Trump’s claim of widespread fraud in voting.

In August, the FBI stated that they had launched an investigation into a security breach in Mesa County voting equipment. Jena Griswold, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Peters has been accused of helping to facilitate this violation.

Griswold who removed the certification of the county’s electoral machines following the breach stated in a statement, that Peters wasn’t fit for her job and described her as a threat to the state’s elections.

“She collaborates with election deniers and spreads lies about election. She was taken from supervising the 2021 Mesa County elections. A grand jury is investigating her criminal record,” Griswold stated.

Peters has not been accused of any wrongdoing and announced her candidacy on an earlier show that was hosted by Steve Bannon, a former Trump adviser.

The Grand Jury Investigation into the suspected breach by Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein has been revealed. It also includes allegations of equipment being tampered with.

Peters’ decision comes just days after Timothy Ramthun (a Republican from Wisconsin) launched his campaign for Wisconsin governor. Ramthun falsely claimed Trump had won the battleground state, defeating President Joe Biden.
