DETROIT (Reuters) — Ford Motor (NYSE ) Co announced Monday it will keep idling some of their assembly plants through the week February 14, due to the global shortage of semiconductors.

Kelli Felker, spokeswoman for U.S. Automaker stated in an email that the company will not be producing at the Ohio Assembly Plant nor the Transit van production line at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. Also, it will work in reduced shifts at the Dearborn (Michigan), Dearborn Truck, and Chicago truck assembly plants.

Due to the lack of chips, Ford has suspended production in eight North American plants and cut back on others. Ford had previously stated that the next quarter would mark the lowest point in vehicle production because of the shortage of chips.
