Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

NSE closed at 3.06%, with the index losing 3.00%.

These were the best performers of the session Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS): traded at 3733.75 after the close by rising 1.05%, or 38.80 point. Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. NS: fell by 0.33%, or 14.25 points, to settle at 4277.00 Cipla Late trade saw a drop in Ltd. (NS) of 0.38%, or 3.60 points, to 954.90.

These were the worst performers of the session. JSW Steel Ltd (NS) fell 6.68%, or 44.85 point to close at 626.55 HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (NS) fell 6.39% to trade at 626.55. ITC Ltd (NSC:) dropped 5.59% to 219.45, or 13.00 point.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. rose 1.05%, to 3734.25. Nestle India Ltd. was down 0.85%, to settle at 17663.75. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. lost 1.34%, to close at 227.25.

ITC Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 5.57% at 219.40 in late trading. Tata Steel Ltd. (BO) lost 5.49% at 1185.90. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (BO) was also down at close with a drop of 5.33% at 2297.25.

On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1724, 136, and 16, respectively. 16 ends unchanged.

HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. shares (NS) plunged to 52 week lows. This was a drop of 6.39%. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (BO:), shares fell 52 weeks to their lowest point, losing 5.33%. This is a loss of 129.35 and 2297.25.

The index, which tracks the implied volatility for Nifty 50 options and was higher by 23.01% at 22.9775, marking a new six-months high.

For April delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.75% to $1855.85 an ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil for March delivery rose 0.06 percent to $93.16 per barrel. The April Brent oil contract increased 0.03 percent to $94.47 per barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.2% to 75.557 and EUR/INR rose 0.1% to 85.4905

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.8% at 96.245
