A survey shows 77% of consumers are against Facebook owning metaverse dataAccording to Advokate Group’s survey of 1000 Americans, 77% are concerned about Facebook (NASDAQ;) owning their data.
A staggering 87% of respondents would choose a decentralized metaverse. Gen Z respondents were even more inclined to favor a metaverse on the blockchain than their Millennial peers.
They will be doing what they want in the metaverse. Gamers are most interested in gaming. Next is socializing with their friends. Next came work-related activities, followed by concerts. Over half of the respondents (55%) anticipate spending 3 to 4 hours each day in a metaverse.
Metaverse participants want to be able to work outside of the metaverse. Over 93% would love to have real money. Answers to questions about the top priorities were ranked as follows: earning money, followed closely by socializing. Transporting between games and the metaverse without having to leave the game world was the third most important feature.
Most people believe that metaverses won’t become mainstream until they are more widely accepted. Nearly half of the respondents (49%) think they’ll be mainstream in 1-2 years. Only one fifth (20%) believes it will take 3 to 5 years.
The survey revealed that 93% of respondents were interested in playing to earn. Nearly two-thirds of the respondents (63%), would be willing to play for three hours more each day if it was possible to earn money. Surprisingly, only 11% of gamers would be willing to play seven hours more per day, while 87% would prefer full-time gaming.
