JAKARTA (Reuters – Indonesia’s exports slowed significantly in January following a ban by authorities at the country’s largest thermal coal exporter in order to prevent shipments from Indonesia in the first week 2022. The data was provided Tuesday by the statistical bureau.

The annual growth in exports was 25.31% to $19.16 Billion in January, compared to the 33.86% increase expected by a Reuters poll.

In imports, 36.77% increased, slower than expected (51.38% in the poll). It was larger than $190 million in the poll, and $930 million more than January’s trade surplus.
