Saudi PIF held nearly $56 billion of U.S.-listed stocks in December 2021 -Breaking

DUBAI (Reuters). The Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF had nearly $56 billion in U.S. listed stocks at December 2013. This is up from $43.4 million at September’s end. It stated that the increase value of Lucid electric car manufacturer Lucid had prompted the PIF to hold more U.S.-listed stock.

Lucid investments in the fund were worth $38.6B as of December. This is an increase of $25.8B at the September end, according to the filing.

The listing of Lucid in July 2017 was an enormous boost to the Saudi sovereign wealth funds. Lucid is currently held by the Public Investment Fund, which holds 62% of its shares. In 2018, it had more than $1B invested in Lucid for a large stake. The fund increased its investments in February 2021.

Lucid shares have dropped 28% this year.

PIF holds a 3.75% interest in Uber Technologies (NYSE):

A sharp reduction was made by the sovereign wealth fund in its stake. Prologis (NYSE:), and significantly increasing its stake at Farfetch (NYSE :), which is a fashion technology platform, to 3.3million class A shares.

The company also increased its stake in Pinterest (NYSE :).

PIF manages approximately $480Billion in assets. It is central to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Vision 2030 is a national strategy that aims at diversifying Saudi Arabia’s economy as well as reducing its dependence on hydrocarbons.

The government announced Sunday that Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman had transferred 4 percent of the money. Saudi Aramco (SE:) shares worth $80 billion to the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund.
