REUTERS/Willy KurniawanJAKARTA, Reuters – The Indonesian central bank governor Perry Warjiyo stated Wednesday that emerging markets would be able weather tightening globally, which includes U.S. rate increases, better than previous tightening periods.
Warjiyo claimed that emerging markets such as Indonesia have a better policy, greater foreign exchange reserves, and are working to improve their financial markets.
He reiterated that Bank Indonesia would keep its benchmark rate of 3.50% at the G20 meeting of central bankers and finance ministers this week. This will be until Bank Indonesia sees signs of an increase in inflation.
