BERLIN (Reuters). – The Group of 20 top economies’ finance chiefs will be discussing the Ukraine crisis. However, it’s unclear if they will make a joint statement that includes a political signal or just exchange views. A German government official stated Wednesday.

A meeting of G20 central bank chiefs and finance ministers will be held in Indonesia on Thursday and Friday. Due to the coronavirus virus, many participants will be unable to attend in person, such as Christian Lindner (German Finance Minister).

Monday’s warning by the G7 finance ministers to Russia was made in response to Russia’s threat to incurvat Ukraine. The G7 is a group of major western economies.

However, it is not clear whether or not the G20 larger group (which includes Russia and China) will send a similar warning to Moscow.

According to a German official, the Europeans at the G20 wanted to accelerate the implementation of global tax reform. This includes a 15% minimum tax on companies.

The official stated, “Here we will place a clear exclamation point on implementation.”

As early as 2023, the tax reform in 140 countries should be effective. This target may be too ambitious for some, and might not even be possible.
