Ryanair expects summer air fares to be higher than in 2019 -Breaking

LISBON (Reuters] -Ryanair believes that the average price of air tickets during this summer’s peak season will be much higher than what was available in 2019 for pre-COVID tickets, Group Chief Executive Michael O’Leary indicated on Wednesday.

O’Leary said to journalists in Lisbon that while prices are expected to remain at 2019 levels between March and May, the airline would see them rise beginning in June. This is when holidays will be over and family travels abroad.

He said, “After that it depends on the state of the global economy and the oil price.”

O’Leary stated two weeks ago that he expects huge summer passenger numbers due to pent-up demand if there is no disruption to the recovery by a COVID variant.

Ryanair posted a loss in its final three months 2021, reporting a net of 96,000,000 euros.

He stated in Lisbon that “we think we’ll be back to our preCOVID traffic volumes March or April next year.”
