OTTAWA (Reuters), – Justin Trudeau has declared that he requested emergency powers for Canada to put an end to protests blocking border crossings in Ottawa and Central Ottawa. This was because it was a serious economic risk that could harm ties with the United States.

Trudeau previously called this act a threat against democracy.

A CBC reporter captured two police buses arriving at Ottawa’s central core on Thursday morning. However, there were no signs of protesters being cleared. The police began to fence off some government buildings.

Trudeau invoked Monday’s little-used Emergencies Act, which gave his Liberal government many additional powers temporarily.

The occupations and blockades are illegal. They are a menace to our economy, the relationships with trading partners and they pose a threat for supply chains as well as the availability of essential goods, such food, medicine, and other commodities,” Trudeau said to the House of Commons.

Although protestors initially opposed cross-border COVID-19 vaccination mandates for truckers, and other restrictions on pandemics, some have now expressed their disapproval of Trudeau’s office and stated that they would like to expel him from power.

Pat King, one of the organizers of the protest, stated that “I’m not going anywhere”. “I haven’t overstayed my welcome. “My taxes have allowed me to come here.”

The protesters were urged to move by local residents. A man shouted at King and forced him to return home shortly before King and King were separated by police.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police has also sent in officers. Radio-Canada, a public broadcaster, said that Quebec was ready to offer police.

The reinforcements were an addition to the already substantial security presence that was present in the area. This is more than what you would see on a regular basis.

More flyers were distributed by Ottawa Police on Thursday to warn truck drivers and those paralyzing the downtown area that they will be subject to severe sanctions. The 400-plus vehicles involved were found parked outside Trudeau’s office.

Weather conditions could make it difficult to carry out policing actions. Ottawa received steady rainfall on Thursday, and Environment Canada predicted that it would turn to snow by Friday morning.

Canadian officials warn of the presence extremist elements among protesters who, they claim, want to topple the government. Trudeau, however, tempered his remarks in comments to legislators on Thursday.

He said that Canadians have continued to be entitled to freedom of expression, peaceful protest and to the right not to be intimidated by police. However, occupying major Canadian cities or blocking the border crossings, protesting, is inadmissible.

Left-leaning New Democrats claim they will support the invocation. This means that it will be accepted.

A second protester from Ottawa predicted that the demonstration would go on despite arrests.

“I think most people will just kneel down and be peaceful,” he said. Sean said that no one is going fight or get violent, and that he would not reveal his last name.

Protesters blocked several crossings into the United States. This prompted President Joe Biden and Trudeau, to raise their concern. Although the blockades were cleared, Windsor police claimed that they stopped a possible attempt to restore barriers.

Marco Mendicino the Public Safety Minister, reiterated his earlier statements to the House of Commons, saying that “the type of conduct that has been seen at our border puts into grave question the integrity of this country and its security.”
