WalmartAs investors expect, the fourth-quarter results will be announced before the bell rings Thursday. look for clues about how shoppers are responding to inflation.

According to consensus estimates by Refinitiv, here’s what analysts expect for the quarter ending Jan. 31:

  • Earnings per share adjusted: $1.50
  • Revenue: $151.53 trillion

The big-box retailer is expected to report strong holiday sales, according to analysts. U.S. retail sales in November and December hit an all-time record. Beyond that, they want to know if consumers are showing price-sensitivity as food and other goods become more expensive — and how much of rising costs Walmart plans to absorb rather than pass on.

The January Inflation Report showed an increase of 5% fastest rate in four decades. Walmart’s largest sales area is food, which drives most of their growth in this sector.
