Western leaders put up a united front as Russia commences nuclear exercises

Western leaders warned Russia to not consider relocating a country’s borders with force. This was in light of the fact that Russia would have to pay an economic and political price for any military intervention.

Harris, speaking at the Munich Security Conference Saturday said that national borders must not be changed with force.
“We have prepared economically measures that will swiftly, severely, and unite,” she stated. We will focus on Russia’s key industries and financial institutions.”
Officials warned Russia that it has the capability to invade Ukraine anytime, and suggested Moscow may be trying to make an excuse for an invasion with so-called false flag operations.

On Saturday, Russia began nuclear strategic exercises that involved the launch of missiles and ballistic rockets. It claimed they were not related to any deployments at Ukraine’s borders.
The Kremlin stated that Russia struck land and sea targets on Saturday with cruise and ballistic missiles as part of strategic nukes exercises.
According to the Kremlin, annual exercises included launches of Tsirkon and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles as well as a variety of weapons.
Diplomacy
The Munich conference leaders expressed their desire to maintain dialogue with Russia. Scholz, the German Chancellor, stated that there was clear evidence Russia is still open to diplomacy.
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave some assistance, as his country is close to Russia. He told the conference that no country should try to substitute international norms for its own.
He stated that no nation should try to turn the clock back on history.
Scholz, Germany’s representative in Germany, said Russia was mistaken for seeking to justify the revision of borders.
Scholz stated at the conference that “if you look back enough in history you can find grounds to wars lasting a few hundred year and destroying our whole continent.”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that he sent Sergei Lavrov a letter offering further talks to resolve the Ukraine crisis. However, he warned Moscow about the risks of making unreasonable security demands.
The conference was also informed by him that there are no indications of Russia withdrawing from Ukraine’s borders – contrary to Russia’s claim this week of having begun pulling troops out.

Stoltenberg said that Moscow also made demands regarding security, something the Kremlin was aware could not be met by NATO. This is rare acknowledgement of diplomatic limits.
Scholz stated that Russia has declared the question of Ukraine joining NATO as a “casus belli”, which Scholz said was paradoxical since there’s no plan to make a decision. “We will clearly distinguish between legitimate security needs and untenable demands.”
Russia, which has deployed tens to thousands of troops close to the Ukrainian border while insisting that they have no plans of invading Ukraine as part of the dispute over Ukraine.
Putin insists on security requirements, which include a ban on Ukraine joining NATO. NATO claims that each nation can choose their alliances, as per U.N. agreements.
