WASHINGTON — The President Joe BidenAfter a meeting lasting four hours with his national security team, he abruptly cancelled plans to travel to Delaware on Sunday for the holiday.
This was an unexpected addition to the President’s itinerary. It was made public on Sunday afternoon at 2 :41 p.m., but it was cancelled about half an hour later.
This is unusual, particularly for travel plans that include leaving Washington.
The White House stated that the president had a family issue and was supposed to travel to Wilmington, DE tonight. However, he has decided to stay in Washington, DC, where he is now.
Biden’s weekend schedule and interactions with his national security staff have gained a sense of urgency after the president stated that he believes Russia President Vladimir Putin had decided to carry out an attack on Ukraine “in the coming days.”
“We have reason to believe the Russian forces are planning and intend to attack Ukraine in the coming week, in the coming days,” Biden said Friday in a formal address to the nation, his second in the past week. We believe they’ll target Ukraine’s capital Kyiv which is home to 2.8 million people.
It is not common to reveal information such as this about an opponent’s battle plans. Biden’s prediction shocked the entire world. Russia currently has 190,000 troops deployed on Ukraine’s northern and eastern border — nearly half of the nation’s military.
