(Reuters] – Bernie Madoff’s brother and accomplice in the Ponzi fraud scheme were convicted last week of murder-suicide.
According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Madoff’s brother, Sondra Wiener (87), and Marvin, were both found in Boynton Beach with gunshot wounds.
The office stated that the death was a suicide/murder. The cause of death is determined by the medical examiner.
Madoff was 82 years old when he died in Federal Prison last year, while he was serving 150-years of imprisonment.
The scheme was estimated to have cost $64.8 billion and went years undiscovered by the public. It ensnared thousands, including celebrities, charities and pension funds.
