Trump’s Truth Social app set for Monday release in Apple App Store

Donald Trump’sTruth Social, a social media startup, is set to go live in AppleAccording to posts made by an executive in the App Store test version viewed and Reuters, the Monday launch could mark the return of former President to social media during the U.S. Presidents Day holiday.

Late Friday night, Billy B. posted a series on Twitter where he answered questions from users who were invited to test the app. According to screenshots viewed on Reuters, one person asked when the app — which was available for beta testing this week — would be made public.

Executive replied that they were currently set to release the Apple App store on Monday, February 21st.

Trump would be able to return to social media after being banned for more than a decade. Twitter, Facebook and Alphabet‘s YouTube following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters, after he was accused of posting messages inciting violence.

On Feb. 15 Trump’s eldest son Donald Jr. posted on Twitter a screenshot of his father’s verified @realDonaldTrump Truth Social account with one post, or “truth,” that he uploaded on Feb. 14: “Get Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!”

Led by former Republican U.S. Representative Devin Nunes, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the venture behind Truth Social, will join a growing portfolio of technology companies that are positioning themselves as champions of free speech hope to draw users who feel their views are suppressed on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The companies include Twitter competitors Gettr and Parler as well as video site Rumble. None have yet to reach the same level of popularity that their mainstream counterparts.

Reuters has seen screenshots that show the app at version 1.0. The post also discloses Monday’s launch date. Two people who had access to the version said that it reached version 0.9 on Wednesday evening.

A representative of TMTG didn’t immediately reply to a request for comments.

Apple’s App Store Listing indicates that Truth Social should be launched on February 21, according to a source who was familiar with the venture. Recent weeks have seen Nunes publicly announcing that the app would be launched by March.

A person who is familiar with the situation said that Nunes appeared on the app Friday and urged users to connect more, take photos and video, and engage in conversation.

He welcomed Nunes to his posts and suggested that he invite other priests.

It is impossible to change ‘truths.

Other responses from the chief product officer during Friday’s Q&A session indicated that startup features could be similar to those found on Twitter.

The executive was asked whether it would allow users to modify their “truths” and he replied “not yet”. Twitter users long aspire to be able edit their posts after they are published.

According to an executive, direct messages between users (or DMs), will become the next important feature on the platform.

According to the executive, users may sign up for notifications to be notified when content is posted by others. The executive indicated that blocking other users was an essential component.

He wrote that “there will always be blocking functionality in the application.”

The executive stated that Truth Social would issue a policy regarding verified accounts in the next few weeks.

Although details about the app are beginning to leak, TMTG is still kept under wraps and is viewed with suspicion by many in media and tech circles. For example, it is not clear how the company funds its growth.

TMTG intends to list in New York by merging with a blank-check company Digital World Acquisition(DWAC) and will receive $293,000,000 in cash from DWAC’s trust, assuming that no DWAC shareholder redeems his shares.

Moreover, TMTG secured $1 billion in committed financing from private investors. This money will also not be available until after the DWAC. deal closes.

According to a regulatory filing by Digital World, the Securities and Exchange Commission and U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority have been looking into Digital World’s activities and are likely to continue for months.
